This document describe the normal procedure for shutting down and startup the FEG electron microscopy Tecai TF30 at Brandeis University. It is based on the instructions from FEI engineers, Frank Fomo and Pete Donahu.
The controlling microscope from computer part is only possible when login as supervisor.
Gun Valve CLOSED, close it if not.
Operate OFF.
High Tension OFF(click on the "high tension" button, it will then turn grey from yellow).
From FEG Control (Expert), expand the page. Then
FEG OFF - the extracting voltage and emission current will drop to 0.
power OFF.
Press "High Tension" button on System ON and OFF Panel (SOOP) to disable the high tention.
Press "Vacuum" button on SOOP to disable the vacuum.
Close the interface, Log off and Shutdown Computer.
Penal Power OFF(press the OFF button) - that puts the microscope in Stand-by mode. On SOOP, both ON and OFF buttons are lit.
For complete shutdown, disconnect the power to Gatan Control Rack. To do so, pull out the plug (labeled X5) from F30 power supply cabinate. The out put from this cobinate is 220v.
Note: This step is only neccessary when prepare for power off completely. And this is to prevent all the Gatan control units in the rack from being hurt when main power goes off and on, as in the case of building power off.
ZEM OFF.
Shutoff the venting N2 tank.
Haskris in big A/C room set time to 45 minutes (off after 45min).
After 45min, disconnect the power to Haskris chiller and differential Pump(powder circut on the wall breaker off).
